$4.00 entry fee per regular class (plus
$1.00 office fee per class on regular
classes for non-members). $5.00 entry
fee per jackpot class (plus $1.00 office
fee per jackpot class for non-members).
50% payback of entry fee on all classes
to four placings, ribbons to 5 placings.
All jackpot classes will require 5 or more
entries for the added money to be paid
back to exhibitors. If there are 4 or fewer
entries in a jackpot class, 50% of the
$5.00 entry fee will be paid back to the
exhibitors.

Stallions over their yearling year may
only be handled by exhibitors age 19 &
over.

All unruly horses, ponies, spectators or
exhibitors will be removed from the
show grounds.

Henry County Saddle Club and the City
of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa is not responsible
for accidents, injury, damage or loss of
property.

All exhibitors are at their own risk and
will sign a waiver.

Is is the exhibitor's responsibility to read
and follow all Henry County Saddle Club
rules. All ponies will be measured.

  1. Henry County Saddle Club is not responsible in case of accident, theft or property damage.
  2. All unruly horses, ponies, spectators or exhibitors will be removed from the show grounds.
    Unsportsman like behavior, abusive language or behavior will not be tolerated.
  3. This club follows the rules as spelled out in the Iowa Light Horse Handbook per HCSC
    interpretation.
  4. All pets must be on a leash and kept a minimum of 10 feet from the arena at all times.
  5. Entries close at the beginning of the previous class.
  6. Show Committee or Judge has the right to split a class if it becomes too large.
  7. Refunds: no refund if you scratch a class; refund if HCSC cancels a class. Refund on entries if
    injury to horse or rider results in the inability for either to finish the day. No refund on re-rides
    or broken tack.
  8. Dress code: proper Western or English boots with heels must be worn. Long pants, long
    sleeved shirt and hat required for Halter and Pleasure Classes. Long pants and t-shirts are
    acceptable for Game Classes. No tennis shoes, halter-tops or tank tops will be allowed. Chaps
    and English coats are not required.
  9. A closed gate will be used in all classes.
  10. There will be a maximum of three minutes allowed for tack changes between classes. More
    time may be allowed for complete discipline changes for horse and rider. Show office must be
    notified in advance of tack changes.
  11. Ring Steward, Show Committee and/or Judge has the right to close the gate in any class. No
    exceptions.
  12. Judges decision is final. No approaching the judge during the show.
  13. All ages are counted as of January 1st and will continue throughout the year.
  14. All ponies entered in Pony Classes will be measured prior to the pony’s first show. A ½” will
    be allowed for shoes and ¼” allowed for pads.
  15. Stallions over their yearling year may only be handled by exhibitors ages 19 & Over.
  16. Broken patters on all game classes will be a disqualification.
  17. Three or more strides of a canter will be a disqualification in all trot only game classes.
  18. 5 second penalty on downed barrels and 2 second penalty on down poles.
  19. A horse and rider will be disqualified during their run if they cross the time line before they
    have completed the pattern.
  20. All jackpot classes will require 5 or more entries for the added money to be paid back to
    exhibitors. If there are 4 or fewer entries in a jackpot class, 50% of the $5.00 entry fee will be
    paid back to the exhibitors.
High Point Rules
  1. To be eligible for Year End High Point Awards riders must be current members and horses
    must be ridden by current members  of the Henry County Saddle Club. Participants must
    show in a minimum of two shows of the current year for points to accumulate.
  2. The divisions are as follows: High Point Youth Rider (age 18 & under, points accumulate in all
    classes); High Point Adult Rider (age 19 & over, points accumulate in all classes); High Point
    Halter Horse (points accumulate in classes 1-6); High Point Pleasure Horse (points accumulate
    in classes 7-28); High Point Game Horse (points accumulate in classes 26-35).
  3. The points will accumulate as follows: 1st place = 5 points; 2nd place = 4 points; 3rd place = 3
    points; 4th place = 2 points; 5th place = 1 point.
